Blaine561 presents: Keep it Business, Not Personal

Managing a small corporation, as well as having a home-based business myself, I have learned how important it is to keep personal and business matters separate. Not only does it make life less confusing, it can also save you money on your taxes.

The first thing I recommend is to open a separate checking account just for your business. Use this account to deposit all self-employment income. Do NOT use this account for wages received from an employer. This account needs to be totally separate. You will pay all your business related expenses solely from these funds. When you pay business expenses from your personal account, it is much more difficult to accurately track how much money you are spending for your business. And, missed expenses could mean missed tax deductions!

The other suggestion I have is to open a credit card specifically for your business expenses. Make sure you choose a card that suits you and your business well: i.e. cash back, travel rewards, etc. Use this card for all your business purchases and of course, make payments to it with your new business checking account.

Last but not least, I recommend purchasing some form of accounting software. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy or expensive, just a place for you to enter your income and expenses for your business. Even a very simple program can provide you with financial reports demonstrating your company’s profitability, as well as help you to set a budget. Most programs also give you the option to print reports that aid in tax preparation.

As with any other financial decision, I highly recommend you meet with an accountant or tax preparer on an annual basis at the very least. He/She will be able to direct you in the best ways to make the most of your hard earned money. But remember, the harder you work at keeping your business and personal records separate, the easier it will be for your accountant to help you.

Blaine561 presents: The Top 4 Ways To Build Your Personal Training Business And Which One Is Best!

The Top 4 Ways to Build Your Personal Training Business and Which One is Best!

Everyone wants to grow their business. It doesn’t matter who you are, or what business you are in. Unless you are not interested in money or career security, you want your business to grow.

Do you feel like you want to grow your personal training business, but you’re not sure how to do it? Are you ready to take your business to the next level, but you don’t know how? Then this article is for you!

Let’s start by defining the 4 ways that anyone can grow a business, and then we will examine which one has the most growth potential:

1) Get more customers – Do you just want more customers who use your service, buy your products, or both? How many customers can you fit into your day, or provide products for? How many customers do you have the time and the resources to support?

2) Sell more products or services to your present customers – This is a great idea, since your present customers already trust you. However, it is limited because each customer will only spend a certain amount of money, or they will only need a certain number of products. Once their needs have been filled, or they can no longer afford what you offer, then you will no longer be able to sell products and services to those clients.

3) Raise the prices that you charge for your product or services – In most cases, this has got Bad Idea written all over it. Although there are times when raising your prices or your rates is a good business move, just arbitrarily saying that you will simply charge more in order to make more money spells doom for your business in the long run.

4) Find a way to duplicate your efforts by having people who work under you distribute your products or services. There are few drawbacks to this method, and it is in fact the recommended method for business growth in today’s economy.

Check out the breakdown below of why methods 1 through 3 are limited at best, and how option 4 – duplicating your efforts – is the only surefire way to grow your business permanently and exponentially.

1. Getting more customers is always a good idea for any business, provided the infrastructure is in place to handle the needs of the increased customer base. However there are 2 major problems with this method:

a) Acquiring new customers is expensive and time-consuming. Most people are aware that the cost to keep a present customer is significantly less than the cost of acquiring a new one. The time and/or finances needed to continually bring in new clients will eventually run out.

b) If you are a small business owner, handling an excessive number of clients or customers can become almost impossible, especially if you are in a service-based industry such as personal training. Even if you hire staff to help with the extra client load, bringing new employees into your organization brings with it another set of headaches that may very well not be worth the effort. If you decide to handle all client service and support yourself, you will quickly find yourself with no life whatsoever, even though you are building and working your business from sun up to sun down day after day.

2. Selling more products or services to your present customers is a great idea, but that idea also has a limited lifespan. Eventually your customers will either no longer need your services (a personal trainer never keeps a client forever), they will run out money to pay for your products or services, or they will get enough products to last them for the foreseeable future, and they will stop buying. All of these scenarios end the same way: You no longer receive any additional revenue from selling more products or services to that customer.

3. Raising the prices of your product or service may be a smart business/marketing idea in certain circumstances. However, even when that is the case, there is still a set amount of money that your customers will be willing to pay for your products or services.

If you are a personal trainer who trains 8 sessions a day for $50.00 per session, you make $400.00 per day. Not bad! In a 5-day work week, you will make $2,000.000. What would happen if you became known as the best personal trainer in town, and jacked your rates up to $200.00 per training session? You are now making $1,600.00 a day, and bringing in $8,000.00 a week!

Well, first of all, the above scenario is unrealistic. Not many trainers make $200.00 per session. Of those that do, what about cancellations? What about when your clients get sick or go on vacation? What happens if you are the one who gets sick or goes on vacation? What if you get injured? What if you get too old or burnt out to keep up the pace of 40 intensity-packed personal training sessions week after week for years on end?

The fact that you raised your rates to the upper end of what a personal trainer can expect to make doesn’t protect you from the fact that there are still many, many obstacles that can and will block your income potential. Some of those obstacles are permanent in nature and out of your control!

4. Finding a way to duplicate your efforts by having people underneath you distribute your products or services is the only solution that is effective, will work indefinitely, and is not bound by your personal schedule or other physical limitations. You will receive a share of the money that is generated by those working under you, and you can eventually leave the game completely if you wish, allowing your business to run itself with minimal guidance and input from you. If you desire true financial and time freedom, duplicating your efforts is the only way it is ever going to happen.

So how do you duplicate your efforts? You find a product and/or service that can be distributed by others who work under you, while giving you a share of the profits that are generated by their efforts. The only business model that allows this scenario – without hiring employees – is Network Marketing.

Network marketing is an industry whose time has finally come. The business regulatory systems in the world have put rules and laws in place to prevent consumers from being taken advantage of by shady companies, false promises, and outright lies. The network marketing companies that remain solvent are profitable, ethical, and they allow you to grow your business exponentially through your own efforts, as well as the efforts of others.

If you truly want to grow your business without limits, and at the same time increase your bank account as well as the amount of time that you can spend with friends and family, a successful network marketing company with quality products meets those requirements easily.

To find out more about why network marketing is the only way to secure your future, read the book ‘Wave 4, Network Marketing in the 21st Century’, by Richard Poe. Blaine561 presents: Selection Of Personal Protective Equipment Is Important

It is important to ensure the correct selection of personal protective equipment is made as not all safety equipment will meet the same performance requirements or provide the same protection. For example, not one type of glove provides adequate protection against all chemicals or a respirator designed to be effective against medium air levels of a chemical may not be effective against high levels of the same chemical.

When selecting the appropriate personal protective equipment, consideration should be given to elements such as: durability, permeability, abrasion resistance, burn resistance, insulation, cut resistance, size, comfort, and the ability to be cleaned.

Personal protective equipment is designed for a specific duty and the most common forms come in these categories:

Head protection in the form of a safety helmet shall be worn where, there is a possibility that a person may be struck on the head by a falling object, a person may strike their head against a fixed object, and there may also be inadvertent head contact with electrical hazards.

Eye protection shall be provided where a risk of eye injury exists. Typical hazards might include flying particles, dust, splashing substances, harmful gases, vapors, aerosols, and high intensity radiation from welding operations.

Hearing protection shall be provided where a risk of noise induced hearing loss exists. The need for hearing protection shall be assessed from the conduct of noise surveys in potential noise hazard areas. If one cannot hear a normal conversation from two feet away, hearing protection is most likely needed.

Respiratory protection shall be provided, after all other practicable measures have been taken to provide control measures, to ensure that no staff member is exposed to an atmosphere that is or may be injurious to health.

Protective clothing and sunscreen shall be provided for staff that are required to work outdoors and are exposed to the sun’s rays for continuous periods in a day. Direct exposure of the skin to UV radiation from outdoor work shall be minimized by providing hats, long sleeves/trousers and an adequate supply of sunscreen.

Hand protection shall be provided where there is an identified hazard associated with a potential for hand injury.

Protective footwear or safety shoes shall be provided where the nature of the work exposes the employee to a medium to high risk of injury to feet.

High visibility safety vests shall be provided and worn where there is a risk of injury associated with working on or near roadways or near moving traffic or moving plant.

Fall protection harness should be provided when personnel need to work at heights.

Any protective equipment provided for use should be appropriate for the wearer and that it controls the risk. For the protective equipment to be fully effective, the wearer needs to be trained on its use. Protective equipment should be in a clean and hygienic condition for the wearer. This equipment should not be shared between wearers unless the equipment is deemed to be clean. Any protective equipment used should be stored and located in an appropriate place so that it remains clean and not exposed to the elements. Any storage areas for protective equipment should be clearly defined. Look for the manufacturer’s label for instruction on care and any special requirements.

Blaine561 presents: 6 Easy Steps to Separating Your Personal Life from Your Business

If you work from home, chances are you already know that you’re really pulling “double duty”. You probably work on your business while doing the laundry, corralling the kids, or fixing dinner… and let’s not forget all the phone calls from family and friends expecting you to run errands or just “go out” for an afternoon of fun.

One of the hardest parts of running a home business is separating your work from your family and social life. Here are six proven ways to keep your home life running smoothly while keeping your business on track.

1. First, create a work schedule and stick with it. It may be tempting to answer personal calls during the day or take business calls after-hours, but doing this actually shows that you’re expendable – not dependable – and people will take for granted that you’ll “always be there” for any little things that come up. Even though family comes first, stay true to your business hours and resist the urge to chat with friends or pick up groceries during working hours.

2. Your friends may consider “working from home” an invitation to chat during the day or just go out for coffee or shopping for an afternoon. Make it clear that your business hours are just that – for business. Leave personal calls for after-hours, and you’ll find that your friends will gradually accept your schedule without feeling slighted.

3. Just because you have to set up a work schedule, doesn’t mean that you have to keep the same hours as everyone else. One of the benefits of working for yourself is setting your own hours to fit your most productive times. Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, you’ll find that you’ll get much more done when you’re attuned to your body’s own natural rhythms. Some people work in the morning, take a break in the afternoon when the kids are home from school, and work again in the evening. Schedule your work time when you feel the most productive and you’ll find that things get done easier, faster and better than when you were dragging along during those same rigid work hours that everyone else has.

4. If getting after-hours business calls or work day personal calls is a problem, it helps to have a separate business phone line, or at least an answering machine or voice mail, to take the incoming calls. This also gives your business a more professional appearance to clients than if you and your family make and receive calls from the same phone line.

5. If at all possible, try to separate your “home office” from the rest of your home. If you don’t have the luxury of a separate room, a room partition or screen can be just as helpful. This also serves as a visual cue to family that you’re working and shouldn’t be bothered.

6. Dress and act professionally while working. Some people find it helpful to dress in casual business attire during their working hours. This reinforces that just because you’re working from home doesn’t make you any less of a professional. Answer the phone with your name, or business name, and keep your children off the phone during business hours. Also, spend money investing in the tools you need to do your job right. A cell phone, fax machine or even a budget computer can help turn your home office into a true workspace.

If you follow all of these tips and stick with them, chances are you’ll find a routine that not only makes you feel productive and active in your business, but also projects the message that you mean business – literally!
