That’s one reason I try to find companies that offer a money back guarantee. This minimizes this problem and gives my visitors some protection. Sometimes when a company gives the person the refund, they still go around to the forums posting that they have been scammed anyway.

The problem with this is many viable programs get labeled as being a scam. There are enough bad programs out there without adding to the group. This is why I always suggest that you either do the research or use a website that has done it already to have a chance for success.

It is important to remember that all viable work at home programs require some work at home. If you see ads whereby they are suggesting that you can get paid for nothing, then I would not join them or simply realize they are just hype, because if it seems to good to be true than it probably is. Get Out of The House

Staying in the house Monday to Friday without seeing the light of day is certainly not good for your health or state of mind. You have to schedule time to move out and experience a different environment.

Don’t get trapped into only working, eating and sleeping in your home.

Be Mobile

These days you can do most work-related tasks away from your home desk. Once your business is established invest in a laptop, PDA and a good mobile phone. Armed with these devices you can take your office with you and work from your garden, the local park, or even the library. It doesn’t matter where, just as long as you are out of the house and being around the rest of the human race.

Create an Office

If you have been used to working in a formal office environment all your working life, then switching to the kitchen table or the spare room can be an unwelcome distraction. To give you that discipline and focus designate a part of the house as your office. If you have a spare room or study then even better. Buy a desk and office chair, filing cabinets and other office-style stationery. Remove all family and home-related items so this tells your mind that you are at work and not home.

Get Organised

In any office you have too many colleagues and clients visiting you to allow your work area to get cluttered. At home it’s different. Unless you are expecting clients on a regular basis then it’s too easy to allow your paperwork and filing to get out of hand. The saying that a cluttered desk leads to a cluttered mind is true. Your efficiency and productivity will suffer unless you are organised. Buy filing cabinets, box files, waste paper bin, put up shelves, so that everything is in place.

Getting organised and being efficient also includes setting the ground rules with the family. They need to understand that you are at work and not at their beck and call for every little job that needs doing. Be firm and say no unless it is very urgent and requires immediate attention. Allow nothing to get in the way of your business.

Working from home can be a liberating experience, yet at the same time it can be dangerous unless properly handled. Before embarking on your home business, take time to plan and prepare how you are going to deal with the transition. Done correctly, working from home can be a very attractive alternative to the daily grind of the office.

Blaine561 presents: You Don’t Have To Get It Right, You Just Have To Get It Going

I have a confession to make.

Starting something new sucks.

Yup. Plain and simple I’m impatient and when I see something I want, I don’t want to have to go through the growing pains of getting it to where I want.

Can you relate to that?

For example, many of you know that I’m relatively new as an information marketer. I started my career almost a year and a half ago and some people would say that I’ve enjoyed a fair amount of success in such a short period.

I would agree and I’m very happy with the progress that I’ve made.

However, being surrounded with marketing gurus like Alex Mandossian, Armand Morin, John Childers, Jim Edwards, and Matt Bacak, I see that I have a long way to go.

I know for a fact that these guys make hundreds of thousands of dollars a month on complete autopilot and their income only grows every year.

In addition I’ve enjoyed watching their students implement the strategies they’ve learned from these guys and then experience all kinds of success. Now the key word there is IMPLEMENT!!

It didn’t take me long before I learned one of the most valuable lessons of my career. You should memorize this because it will help you get more done, faster and you’ll be up and making money quicker and easier.

Here it is. Write this down.

You Don’t Have To Get It Right,

You Just Have To Get It Going.

Success in life is nothing more than a series of small wins. However most people try to tackle a HUGE project or idea and they get so overwhelmed that they never even begin.

Think about it…

Bill Gates didn’t create Windows XP before he created Windows 2000, or Windows 95 or even Windows 3.1. But let me ask you a question…

Do you think he would have the market dominance he has if he had waited until he had completed Windows XP?

NO way.

All he did was get going. I guarantee you many of the ideas he had in the later versions of Windows were initially dreamed of when he first created Windows 3.1 but he didn’t wait for it to be absolutely perfect.

He just got going.

So, I sat back and started asking myself questions. I was looking for answers as to why people like Alex, Armand and John just keep on experiencing tremendous success, project after project, and why I was struggling to get my projects up, completed and making money.

Through this reflection I saw something that was holding me back. Perhaps you’ve experienced this yourself.

Here is the problem:

I was trying to tackle the whole project all at once instead of breaking it down into bite size pieces. This resulted in me getting irritated, overwhelmed and disheartened.

Then within the exact same week Armand Morin showed me something that really hit home.

I had proudly opened my laptop and started my mind mapping software where I had brainstormed all kinds of new product and business ideas.

With passion and excitement I enthusiastically began to tell him what I was planning on doing. Then he did something I will never forget.

He grabbed my computer mouse and closed my mind mapping program.

I was dumbfounded. Was he kidding or was this some kind of lesson?

Here is what he said:

“Stop Generating New Ideas And

Start Implementing The Ones You Have!!”

Talk about a wake up call!!

Generating ideas was my form of procrastination. That was a “light bulb moment”. I wasn’t getting any of my ideas completed because every time I came across an obstacle I would stop what I was doing and start brainstorming on something completely different and unrelated.

Can you relate to that?

So let me ask you a question…

What form of procrastination is preventing you from getting your projects completed?

Armand explained his point by making another demonstration. He opened his computer and logged on to the internet and took me to several of his websites where he has products available for sale. Then he said “I want to buy what you have for sale. Take me to your website”.

Guess what?

I didn’t have one.

I only had two explanations why – I didn’t have any completed projects for sale and/or I didn’t have a sales page up for my completed projects.

Duhhh!!

You Can’t Make Money Until You Launch Your Projects

He hit me square between the eyes by showing me what I was doing to sabotage my success. His outside perspective seems so obvious in hindsight but I can honestly say that without it I wouldn’t have made the $111,000+ I did on my most recent project.

Completed projects can do wonders for you and your business because they BUILD MOMENTUM.

You can’t build a BIG snowman until you create a snowball and get it rolling. The same principle applies to your information marketing business. You can’t make $1,000,000 until you make $100,000. Similarly you can’t make $100,000 until you make $10,000 and you can’t make $10,000 until you make $1,000.

So often we are trying to go for the million right out of the gates and we get disappointed and frustrated when it doesn’t happen.

So the moral of this story …

Just get your projects completed and available for someone to buy!!

This morning my alarm woke me up from a great dream where I was hunting with Bill Clinton. His shiftiness even carried over to outdoor activities within my dreams, which would probably make him a pretty great gal to head for a weekend of hunting and debauchery. This was totally different from a dream I had with Jimmy Carter, but that’s for another day. Anyways, I got ready for work, put on my shoes and left. My shoes are very old. They’re Doc Martins and the sole is coming undone, so they flap when I walk. It makes me embarrassed and when I’m around others at work I don’t like to cross my legs because it emphasizes the shoes. We won’t talk about Docs moving their production facilities from England today (although, I’m sure there’s some quality connection issues that should be considered). The point is, I hate that. But, what can I do? Home based office job…nitz!

If I wised up, I’d do a little bit of research. And I mean “little” as in slightly more than just kind of thinking about it. Get myself a home based job mentor (I recently saw something about this honest guy named Todd, that’s up for giving just the right opportunity) and get cracking on not really ever having to get cracking again.

There’s no great explanation needed here. You know what an office job is; so you know what a home based office job is. The thing to remember is that for all the variety in job sectors and positions in an office there is a comparable diversity in the home based jobs too. That’s probably where the research comes in—finding something that’s just right for me. Then I’m calling the shots. Including job uniform, which for me might be tube sock (Red Hot Chili Pepper-style) and my lame, lame shoes.

Blaine561 presents: Something All My Own

Owning my own business has taught me many things about myself. I’ve learned that I can make wise business decisions, I can manage the accounts and taxes for my company, and I can type with one hand while holding a sleeping 6 month old. All of these things have helped me develop into a much more confidant person. My business has also given me the freedom to test my limits and see what I can accomplish.

Running a home-based business has become a large part of my identity. Not in a selfish, “See what I can do!” way, but in a positive sense. It has given me the confidence to know that I accomplish things that I never thought possible. Before I was a work-at-home mom, I wanted to be able to be at home with my children, but I also felt that I needed more. I needed something for me alone that would make me feel strong and confident. I also needed the opportunity to keep in touch with others to avoid the isolation that often accompanies stay-at-home moms.

There are three key areas in my life that I believe my home-based business has helped me develop:

Passion

When I began my website it truly was something for ME. I wanted to compile work at home information all in one spot so that I could find the perfect opportunity that would allow me to stay at home with my children. However, in running CWAHM I have found that I have a passion for helping other moms work from home.

My business has taught me that to succeed you must give to others and expect nothing in return. This may not seem like a sensible business technique, but it is a biblical principle. Put others before yourself, help others to succeed and you will be successful yourself.

Gina Neef with The MOM Team, told me recently, “I didn’t realize I even wanted “something of my own” three years ago. When I began – it all unfolded… so nice to have my passion fueled.”

Confidence

In college I was shy and very unsure of myself. I felt like there was not any one thing that I was truly good at. My grades were average, my athletic ability was average, and on and on. Being a successful business owner has opened my eyes to the fact that there are things that I am good at.

Melody Spier, owner of Ballyhoo Virtual Services, felt similarly. She states, “Owning a business has taught me so much about myself and my capabilities. I used to let fear of the unknown, fear of success and of failure hold me back, but now that I’m a business owner, I’ve learned that it’s okay to succeed at some things and fail at others. I take each experience and learn from it – what worked, what didn’t. Today if I want to do something but don’t know how, I find someone who has knowledge of the topic and I ask for help. Owning a business has taught me to believe in my skills and myself. My fear of success has long since vanished as well; I can now say that I’m proud to own a successful virtual assistant business.”

Courage

Being a business owner has given me courage. Courage to take chances and go beyond my comfort level. Once I have a few successes behind me, I realized that I could do it all. Also, even my failures make me stronger. I found that my business didn’t shut down with each mistake I made and I always found a better way of doing things. Diana Ennen, president of Virtual Word Publishing, agrees. She states, “Owning my own business has inspired me to do more in all aspects of my life. I love the warmth of success so I try and take the right steps to achieve it. Just as I want the best for my family, I also want the best for my business as well. I’ll often find the courage to go the extra mile and reach far beyond what I think is possible and what I find is that most of the time, I reach those goals.”

Having “something all my own” has benefited me in many ways – passion, confidence, courage – and so much more. I’ve been inspired to do things that I never thought possible. If you desire to work from home you’ll find that it’s worth the time and effort that it takes to get started. Take the chance, step out on faith and work until you succeed.
